Extinction Rebellion (XR), an activist group from the UK, has faced numerous challenges in the past year due to controversies raised from a mass mobilization event that took place in Canning Town on Oct.17, 2019, where a group of XR members climbed on a subway car to protest and prevented it from leaving. After the event took place, the public opinion toward XR and other activist groups deteriorated many viewed the form of nonviolent, disruptive protest with a negative image.
